Chinchillas come from the Andes and they can live up to 20 years old. when you buy a Chinchilla you must remember they are a very shy animal and you have to gain there confidence, the more time you have with your Chinchilla the better, they make some funny noises and are fun to be around especally when they have a bath in a dried rock sand, you must let them have a bath in this sand at least two times a week. you musnt put any water on them. when you buy your Chinchilla look out for runny eyes or runnng noise, if you can its best to get a Chinchilla from a breeder and not a shop, when you let the Chinchilla out of the cage make sure there isnt any wires about, i like to give my Chinchilla plenty of things to chew like a sterile dog bone and a piece of pine wood, watch what wood you use because some woods are poisonous, i always use untreated pine and also twig from a apple tree, they love things like toilet rolls, well the inside off, dont use anything plastic in the cage because it will get chewed up and you dont know what it it will do to the stomach.
